Israel is a legitimate nation and her land should not be divided for any reason. God deeded land to the Hebrew people which boundaries are given in His Word and Israel was declared a nation by the UN on May 14, 1948.
Jerusalem and its alternative Hebrew name Zion appear 850 times in the Old Testament and 142 Times in the New Testament for a total of 992 times in the Holy Bible. Neither the name Jerusalem nor any of the 16 various Arabic names for Jerusalem is mentioned in the Koran. In an expanded interpretation of the Koran from the 12th century, one passage is said to refer to Jerusalem.
Genesis 15:18 [AJKB] says, “In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.” God later confirms this promise to Abraham’s son Isaac, and Isaac’s son Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel). When the Israelites were about to invade the Promised Land, God reiterated the land promise, as recorded in Joshua 1:4 [AKJB], “From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.”
These two passages state that the territory that God gave to Israel encompasses everything from the Nile River in Egypt to Lebanon (North to South) and everything from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River (West to East). This includes all of the land modern Israel currently possesses, plus all of the land of the Palestinians (the West Bank and Gaza), as well as parts of Egypt and Syria, all of Jordan, part of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Israel currently possesses only a small percentage of the land God has promised.
Additionally, Ezekiel 47:13-48:35 recount’s the Lord’s measurements of the land given to the Israelites. He begins with “ Thus saith the Lord God; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel…” and concludes with a declaration that its capital (Jerusalem) shall be called “The Lord is There.” [Ez 48:35]
There is not today, nor has there ever been, a sovereign nation called Palestine. Here is a short history lesson regarding Israel. What is today called the Land of Israel was for the last 2000 years called `Palestine’. The name was given to Judea by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, who following yet another Jewish revolt, the Bar Kochba revolt in 135 AD, was determined to remove every trace of the Jewish state from the land of Israel. The Latin name Palestinia derives from Philistine—the ancient enemies of God’s Chosen People. And even the ancient Philistines were not native to Israel. Most scholars believe they migrated from Greece or Crete. A remnant of Jews has always lived on this land throughout history.
In 1897 the First Zionist Congress convened and proclaimed the right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in its own country. Then, that right was recognized by the Balfour Declaration on November 2, 1917, and re-affirmed in the Mandate of the League of Nations.
In 1922 The League of Nations (the predecessor of the UN) agreed to give the Jewish people the legal right to re-establish their homeland in some parts of Biblical Israel.
Once Jews began to emigrate from European and Arab countries, and only after the Jewish people improved the villages, farming, and economic conditions in “the Holy Land,” many Arabs from Syria, Transjordan, Lebanon, etc. began to immigrate as well.
Out of fear of offending the Arabs, Britain sought to restrict Jewish immigration with the White Paper of 1939.
This cruel and unjust document forced Europe’s Jews, who were fleeing Hitler’s gas chambers and ovens, to be deported back to Europe to their certain deaths, or to be held in concentration camps in Cyprus.
In 1947, the UN voted in favor of a Partition Plan which stipulated that
half of Palestine would be allotted to the Jews, most of which was in the desolate Negev desert.
The other half, including the ancient Biblical Jewish land of Judea and Samaria and most of the water sources, would be allocated to the Arabs. Jerusalem was to be placed under international control. The Jews accepted the offer but the Arabs rejected it.
On May 14, 1948, under the leadership of David Ben-Gurion, Israel came into formal re-existence as it was reborn in a day, after the UN vote.
On May 15, the Arab nations attacked Israel and directed the Arabs living in Israel to flee until they had totally annihilated Israel.
Israel stood its ground and by early 1949, she had defeated her Arabs neighbors which surround her on the North, the East, and the South. [The Mediterranean Sea is on the West.]
While Israel had gained control of about half the land originally allocated for a new Arab state [but which the Arabs had rejected], Egypt and Jordan occupied the rest of Palestine. Jordan also controlled the eastern half of Jerusalem, while Israel held the western half.
In May 1967, the UN peacekeeping forces were removed from the Gaza Strip in response to Egyptian demand. Israel once again was under attack. By the end of the Six Day War, Israel held the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
Whereas Israel looks forward to the Arab nations recognizing Israel’s right to exist, the goal of the Muslim Arab leaders has always been the complete annihilation of Israel.
God said: “And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” [Genesis 17:7-8 AKJB]
The truth is that a Palestinian Arab Nation has never existed; its existence was fabricated!
Nonetheless, many have come to believe the often repeated lie that there was a Nation and people called the “Palestinians” who lived in Israel for centuries. It’s been repeated so often that today the whole world believes it. Prior to WWII, Hitler and the Nazis used lies as a propaganda tactic to promote hatred of Jews. If you state a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it. Many may wonder if Palestinian statehood will destroy or divide Israel. However, according to God’s word, those who attempt to divide God’s Land will bring judgment upon themselves.
“For, behold, in those days, and in that them, which I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the costs of Palestine? Will ye render me a recompense? And if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompense upon your own head.” [Joel 3:1-4 AKJB]
We know from Scripture that God’s will is that Israel not be divided. And He will right this wrong when He returns.
God who created and owns the earth, gave a specific portion of His land to Israel under a Covenant Promise. Genesis 15:18 [AKJB] states, “In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.” God later confirms this promise to Abraham’s son Isaac, and Isaac’s son Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel). When the Israelites were about to invade the Promised Land, God reiterated His land Covenant, as recorded in Joshua 1:4 [AKJB], ” From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.”
Israel is the only nation on earth who has been allocated land by Almighty God with the title deed to their land recorded in the Holy Bible.
To those who are determined to divide and destroy Israel God said, “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the families be blessed.” [Genesis 12:3 AKJB]
“The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is Mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me.” [Leviticus 25:23 AJKB]
“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” [Joel 3:2 AKJB]
“But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’” [2 Chronicles 6:6 AKJB]
“Also he built alter in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.” [2 Chronicles 33:4 AKJB]
“And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.” [I Kings 11:36 AKJB]
“And he built alters in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put My name.” [2 Kings 21:4 AKJB]
“…in this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put My name forever.” [2 Kings 21:7 AKJB]
“For thus saith the LORD of hosts; after the glory hath He sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of His eye.” [Zech 2:8 AKJB]
God intercedes for His people in War:
There were many times throughout the OT that God intervened for His people to save them from their enemies. Like when the Pharaoh of Egypt was after His people and He parted the Red Sea for His people to cross and drown the Egyptian army (Exodus). The Battle of Jericho in Joshua 4 was another battle He interceded on behalf of His people.
In Judges 7-8, God used Gideon and 300 men to defeat 135,000 Midianites.
In 2 Chronicles 20 God uses the praise and worship of His people to defeat 3 armies who attempted to come against the people of Judah, but instead turned on each other.
“And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s…17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.” [2 Chronicles 20:15, 17 AKJB]
“And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” [2 Chronicles 20:22 AKJB]
God also intervened during the 6 day war in which Israel took back their land and Jerusalem from Egypt Syria and Jordon. He will intervene in the Gog and Magog war also. He will use a major earthquake to stop the troops advancing on Israel.
At the End of the Battle of Armageddon Jesus will return and put a stop to the Battle with the sword of His mouth.
“And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He will rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” [Rev 19:15 AKJB]
God says He will destroy Nations and people who worship false gods and anyone who comes against Jerusalem:
“For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.” [Deuteronomy 7:4 AKJB]
“And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.” [Deuteronomy 7:16 AKJB]
“Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.” [Deuteronomy 12:2-3 AKJB]
“Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places. [Numbers 33:52 AKJB]
“And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing. “ [Joshua 9:24 AKJB]
“Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” [1 Samuel 15:3 AKJB]
“Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.” [Psalm 101:8 AKJB]
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” [Zechariah 12:9 AKJB]
“The LORD preserveth all them that love Him: but all the wicked He will destroy.” [Psalm 145:20 AKJB]
“Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.” [Jeremiah 50:21 AKJB]
