This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’

by Hal Lindsey

When the Lord called me to the prophetic ministry many decades ago, I knew that while the “big news” was the Good News, it would be carried in on ever-increasing waves of bad news.

The “big news” is that Jesus Christ is coming back and He’s coming back soon. I believe that the Bible indicates that many of those of the generation that saw Israel become a nation in 1948 will still be alive at the coming of the Lord. That’s the Good News.

But I’ve reached the conclusion that we’re in the final days of the Church Age by watching the onrush of the “signs of the times” as detailed by Jesus Himself — all of which are “bad news” events. Of course, these include things like earthquakes, famines, plagues, global weather pattern changes, ethnic strife, hot wars, cold wars, and the global rejection of Biblical truth.

But unfolding Bible prophecy is not all “doom and gloom.” It’s a little like having major surgery. You know it’s necessary and when it’s over you’ll be much better off, but, still, you know it’s going to hurt. We know that what awaits the child of God on the other side of this life will be worth all of the sacrifice and discomfort that is hurtling toward us.

Because time is short and there is so much to lose, God called “watchmen” to sit on the wall, as it were, watch for approaching danger, and, when they spot it, sound the alarm to warn the oblivious townsmen, the blissfully ignorant.

There is a special crown — or reward — promised to those who answer the calling and faithfully warn those around them that, according to the “signs of the times,” Jesus Christ’s return is fast approaching.

I know that many of you are called of God to be “watchmen” in these last days. Don’t make light of that burden you carry. It’s important that the blissfully ignorant hear and are stirred from their apathy. It may not be pleasant to sometimes be considered the bearer of bad tidings. It may be frustrating, even frightening, but God knew you could handle it. That’s why He called you.

Be like Moses, whom God said chose to “endure ill-treatment” because he considered the “reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.” (Hebrews 11:24-26)

And what is it that the Church — or all true believers — is watching and preparing for? The “Blessed Hope” that the Apostle Paul describes in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. Someday soon, Jesus Christ is going to leave heaven and call for those who are watching for His return to leave this earth and meet Him in the air. This even includes those who have died during this Church Age.

According to Paul, when Christ calls us, those believers who have died will be resurrected and those of us still alive will be instantly transformed from mortal to immortal. We’ll all join Him in the air between heaven and earth and be swept into heaven with our Savior.

Those who are left behind will be the ones who experience the “Day of the Lord,” which begins with the great Tribulation. You don’t want anyone you know or love to be in that number. And God doesn’t, either. That’s why He needs you to sound the alarm as a “watchman.”

And how do you make certain you’re ready to experience the “Blessed Hope” and miss the “Day of the Lord?” Simple.

Recognize that you’re a sinner who has fallen short of the standard that God has set. (Every human being has!) Confess your sinfulness and ask God to forgive you. Accept the free gift of pardon that Jesus Christ purchased for you with His atoning death on the Cross. Believe God’s promise (“…whosoever believes in Him shall not die but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16) and receive His pardon in your heart. Then ask God to make of you what He wants you to be. Thank Him for giving you eternal life with Him.

You are now a part of God’s forever family and have just changed your eternal destiny. Now, you are one of those watching for the “Blessed Hope.”

  1. I watched Hal Lindsey tonight and we are all called as watchers to warn those who are lost. We are called to share the saving grace of our LORD YEHOSHUA and His Work on the Cross.

    • Amen Shawn, I so agree. There are so few born again believers who study Biblical Prophecy and understand it in conjunction with current world events. We are called to watch and be ready, but sadly so few really are. Jesus is coming back soon for His Church and we should be telling people this. The Scriptures tell us that once the Rapture of the true Church of Christ occurs, those who have heard the saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and chosen to reject it will not get another chance during the 70th week of Daniel. They are the ones who will be sent a delusion and believe a lie. So today is the day of Salvation.

Everyone needs Jesus, His is the light of the Word, the Bread of Life, some will heed His call and others will arrogantly reject Him. God has a plan for this world and it is coming to a conclusion. He said His Spirit would not always strive with man and He meant it. When the rapture occurs the Holy Spirit will be removed, evil will no longer be restrained.

Most people don’t realize that no one will be saved during the first half of the Tribulation. The Church is gone, and with it the Holy Spirit’s convicting power. There is no one to preach the Gospel to the people left. Paul said: “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” [Romans 10:14-17 AKJB]

God uses spirit filled people to lead the lost to Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit conviction is necessary to draw men to Christ. The “conviction” will not be here after the rapture. Those who have rejected Christ prior to the rapture will not have another opportunity, to know Jesus. This is why we feel the urgency to share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who we know are perishing now! After the Church is gone there will be no second chances, God will send them a delusion and they will believe a lie because they chose not to believe the Truth.

It is very sobering to note that the Bible says fifty percent of the world’s population will die during the first half of the Tribulation. That is close to three billion people, who will not be saved and will go to hell.

After the rapture, God sends His two witnesses down to earth and they will witnesses in Jerusalem for 1260 days. Their purpose is to proclaim the truth to Israel after the Church Age ends. They will be the only light left on the earth and they will be hated by everyone and killed by the Antichrist. It is my belief that He kills them on Passover before he enters the temple and declares himself to be God.

The hundred and forty four thousand Jewish believers who are saved are the “firstfruits unto God,” [Rev 14:4] redeemed among men, of the tribulation. They are among the Jews gathered in Jerusalem for Passover. They witness the death and resurrection of God’s two witness and they are saved because of their testimony. These men are God’s witnesses, His light in the world during the “Great” Tribulation, “The Time of Jacobs Trouble” that occurs during the last 1260 days. They are sealed with the Holy Spirit as was the church and they reap a great harvest of souls.

Truly now is the time of salvation, because Jesus is coming very soon and then it will be too late!

“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, andby our gathering together unto him,[the rapture] 2 that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. [2 Thes 2:1-9 AKJB]

“ Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” [I Thes 4:17 AKJB]

“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believe not the Truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” [2 Thes 2:10-12 AKJB]

Those who refused “the Truth” [Jesus Christ] (John 14:6) before the rapture will “perish” under the rule of the man of sin, the Antichrist. There will be no second chance after the rapture for any who understood yet rejected the gospel. Therefore, it is imperative that everyone who has had every opportunity to receive Christ, [like Americans] to believe on Christ for salvation now, before He removes His church, or it will be too late and their fate will be cast. “…Behold, now is the day of salvation.” [2 Cor 6:2 AKJB]

Those who have rejected Jesus Christ, will be given a “strong delusion” by God Himself, when the “man of sin” [the Antichrist] is revealed. They will believe this lie, welcome him as the god of this age, and then perish with him. These unbelievers who do not believe the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are destined for eternal damnation when they have opportunity in this age to receive Him as their Savior, yet rejecting Him as their Creator and Redeemer. That is, they will face eternal punishment in the lake of fire. There will be no opportunity for them to be saved during the tribulation period, for their names will have been blotted out of the book of life. [Rev 3:5; 13:8]. However, there will still be a large number of people out of every tribe and nation saved during the tribulation [Rev 7:9, 14]. These will be men and women who never had a real opportunity to hear and understand the gospel prior to the rapture, but who will believe, and even suffering martyrdom for their faith, when they read or hear it during the coming time of judgment on earth.
