…3Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,… 2 Peter 3:4
There are about 7 billion people on the planet and as you can see from our Pie Chart here, [go to link at bottom to see chart] Christianity, at the moment claims more followers than any other religion. So we can eliminate about 4.7 Billion people and we’re left with 2.3 billion folks who claim Christianity as their belief.
Out of the 2.3 billion how many have ever read the scripture above? How many folks are looking for the promise of His coming? How many folks are actually in the first camp of the verse that states:
“Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
There is a remnant of people who know the prophetic literature in our Bibles and eagerly look for the signs of His return. How many of the 2.3 billion Christians are not looking? I would put forth that out of the entire words population there may be fewer people than we think that are expectant, that are watching the signs: wars and rumors of wars, famines pestilence, earthquakes in diverse places and signs in the heavens.
Then there are those of us who are looking forward to September and wondering if world events are heralding His return and are often scoffed and mocked by other Christians! Go figure…
Most people don’t have a clue about the blood moons, or the Shmita year. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/babylonbeyond/2008/09/israel-shmita-y.html
Then there is the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus which some claim was the reemergence of the Star of Bethlehem. I don’t think it was and the fact that it appeared in the 13 constellation, ophiuchus, the serpent holder, may be pointing to the advent of the anti-messiah.
Most people aren’t looking at the events in the Middle East and seeing how they line up with the prophecies of Psalm 83, which I believe is the next war we will see and Isaiah 17, the destruction of Damascus.
The Chinese stock market lost 3 TRILLION dollars last week. We are 18 trillion in debt and now we have Jade Helm which starts soon and some believe this is a dry run for what may be the coming anarchy in America.
We live in perilous times. I wrote last week on the Sunday Bun: that the only way out of this mess may be up! The more I see the convergence of the signs we are told to look for, the more I am convinced that we are about to enter a time that us unlike any other in human history and as Yeshua warns us: Unless those days were shortened no flesh would survive.
Where is the promise of His coming?
A remnant of believers are looking with great expectation for His return. I for one am now convinced that we have only one hope and that is in the risen savior of the world. The One who can set all men and women free from our depravity, Yeshua, The Anointed One, who by His word created everything in the universe. He is the rightful King, The Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last. He holds the keys of life and death. He is the Rider on the White Horse. He is Faithful and True. He will ride with the armies of heaven to the earth and will set up His kingdom on the earth. Fantasy you say? Mythos? A storybook fairytale? Mock and scoff if you will but I hold the promise of His return closer now than ever before…. there is a remnant.
