God created man to have fellowship with Him. God wants to have a relationship with His creation. He wants to know us and He wants us to know Him and on a personal level, the problem is that our sin separates us from our Holy God.
God’s provision to know us is through God the Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that man has an inherently wicked and deceitful heart and a rebellious and ungodly nature, and our ways are naturally self-centered and evil in the sight of God.
The Bible teaches that God is not indifferent to us. The Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ for the ungodly, to reconcile us with God, reveals the Lord’s love toward man.
Salvation is entirely a free gift of grace bestowed on whosoever believes in The Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf.
Who exactly is The Lord Jesus? Jesus is the preincarnate Word of God manifest in the flesh. He is the second person of the Triune [three in one] Godhead. Jesus is co-equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit within the Godhead, the three eternal persons make up One Triune God.
Jesus is the pre-incarnate Word who was in the beginning with God and was God. All things were made through Him. [John 1:1-3] In Genesis 1:1 it says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” that was God the Son, Jesus, the pre-incarnate Word. And in Genesis 1:2 it states “And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters,” that was God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Triune Godhead. And as it says In John 1:1 “In the beginning …the Word [Jesus] was with God [The Father] and was God, He was in the beginning with God. This states that God the Father was also present during creation. He was the architect of Creation and Jesus and the Holy Spirit were the implementers of creation. They all work together with one mind and purpose.
We must understand and believe that Jesus, the preincarnate Word of God, manifest in the flesh, in the person of Jesus to be born again. Those who deny that Jesus is the preincarnate Word of God who manifested in the flesh, are not of God. It is only because Jesus is God in the flesh that He is qualified to pay the penalty for our sin in our place.
Only a perfect human being could atone for the sin of the first Adam; and the only way to have a perfect human was for God to be the biological Father of the human body in Mary’s womb, [Matt 1:18-20] so that the inherent sin nature was not present, and for God Himself, to manifest in that sinless body and that is what He did.
Many today are willing to say acceptable things about Jesus, but they will not confess Him as God Incarnate. They will say that Christ is “divine, but not that He is God. That is what separates the true born again Christians from the counterfeit “Christians”, who are “Christian” in name only, but don’t know God.
God the Father is the author of the plan of salvation. God the Son, Jesus volunteered to carry out the Father’s plan, taking on human form, becoming the final perfect atoning sacrifice for sin, that God’s justice demanded, so that humanity could be reconciled with God though faith.
God the Holy Spirit is the sustaining power behind salvation. In other words, God the Son relied on the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill His ministry on Earth, just as we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to sustain our personal relationship with God and produce the fruits of the Spirit in our life.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” [1 John 5:7 AKJB]
Consequently we must receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, understanding that it is by grace and grace alone that we are made acceptable in Christ before a holy God.
Justification is God’s gift to the believer. The saving faith, also a demonstration of God’s grace, is more than an intellectual belief in Jesus’ death on the Cross and involves committing and entrusting one’s life to Jesus as both Lord and Saviour.
Christ’s going to the cross was a finished work and as born again believers we are now complete in Him. Nothing else can be added to this. God’s plan of salvation is totally opposite of the world’s thinking. People want to work their way to heaven with good deeds, but that is not God’s way, that is man’s way and it will not gain them entrance into God’s kingdom. The only good deed God is interested in, is His Sons unjust death on the cross, which He used as the final sacrifice for our sin, in our place. Unless we understand who Jesus is, God in the flesh, and believe that through His death on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sin in our place, there is no knowing or have a relationship with God.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” [Romans 3:23 AKJB]
“But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more than being now justified by His Blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more being reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” [Romans 5:8-11 AKJB]
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any many should boast.” [Eph 2:8-9 AKJB]
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness”. [Romans 4:5 AKJB]
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” [Romans 10:9-10, 13 AKJB]
Romans 10:9 is telling us that to be saved from God’s wrath and judgment for our sins, and be reconciled with God, we must confess the Lord Jesus. This means we must believe and confess that Jesus is fully God and fully human. We must also believe that He died in our place for our sins and that He is risen from dead. It was only because Jesus is God in perfect sinless flesh that He was qualified to be the perfect Lamb of God whose death and resurrection took away the sin of the world, for all who are willing to repent and believe.
You will not be born of God’s Spirit if you don’t believe that Jess is both God and man, when you confess the Lord Jesus. That is what “confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus” means. If Jesus is not God incarnate His death was in vain, because He cannot save anyone.
“Lord” is a title that is given to Jesus that signifies that He is God incarnate. He is the Lord of life and glory in the New Testament; and the Lord [Jehovah] of the Old Testament. I believe in Romans 10:9 Lord Jesus reveals He is both fully God and fully human. Lord signifies His incarnation, Jesus signifies His humanity and Christ signifies His Messiahship or Saviour. He is Jesus Christ the Lord – Jehovah God.
Do you truly believe that Jesus is God, The preincarnate Word who created all things, and manifest in the flesh in the person of Jesus? Do you believe you are a sinner that your sin separates you from God? Do you believe that there is nothing that you can do in the flesh that will reconcile you with God? Do you believe that you need a Saviour to save your eternal soul from the wrath and judgment of God? Do you believe that God the Father, used the unjust death of His Son Jesus, as the final atoning sacrifice for your sin in your place? Do you believe that your faith in the Deity of Jesus and His work on the cross on your behalf satisfied God the Fathers demand for justice for your sin? Do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and is currently in heaven at the right hand of God the Father? Did you ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Lord and Saviour and cleanse you from all unrighteousness and lead you into the path of righteousness?
These are the things we must sincerely believe with our whole heart and acknowledge in prayer before God, to be born of God’s Spirit. God knows your heart and when the Holy Spirit of God comes to live within you, He testifies of Jesus and the truth of the Scriptures. He confirms these truths within your heart and you are changed.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures: and that He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: after that, He was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all He was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I but the grace of God which was with Me.” [I Cor 15:1-10 AKJB]
“But now is Christ risen form the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at His coming. Then cometh the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He hall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He hath put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” [I Cor 15:20-26 AKJB]
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” [Romans 10:9-13 AKJB]
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.” [Romans 10:13 AKJB]
